FAQ

Questions about the Audio Cutter

How do I cut part of an MP3?
Open the MP3, drag across the waveform over the part you want, check it with Play selection, and click Cut and save. Choose Remove it instead to delete that part and keep the rest.
Why does it save WAV and not MP3?
Browsers can read MP3 but can't write it without extra software, so the cutter saves a WAV, which every player and editor opens. It's larger; choose Mono to halve the size.
How do I make a ringtone?
Select up to 30 seconds of the song, tick Fade in and Fade out, and save. On iPhone, ringtones need the M4R format, which GarageBand can make from the WAV.
Can I cut audio from a video?
Yes. Open the video file here and the cutter uses its sound. To keep the picture, use the free video trimmer instead.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The sound is decoded and cut in your browser.
