In short

To convert SRT to text, drop the .srt (or .vtt) file here or paste its contents. The tool removes the cue numbers, the 00:00:01,000 --> 00:00:03,000 timing lines and tags such as <i> or {\an8}, skips lines repeated by rolling auto-captions, and joins the rest into paragraphs, starting a new one after a pause you choose (2 seconds by default). Turn on Keep timestamps to start each paragraph with its time, then copy the text or download a .txt file.

FAQ

Questions about the SRT to Text Converter

How do I convert an SRT file to text?
Drop the .srt file here. The transcript appears on the right without numbers or timestamps; copy it or download it as a .txt file.
Can I keep the timestamps?
Yes. Turn on Keep timestamps and each paragraph (or each line, if you turn off Join into paragraphs) starts with its time, like [1:05].
Why does my YouTube transcript have repeated lines?
YouTube's auto-captions roll: each caption repeats the previous line. Remove repeated lines skips a line that's identical to the one before, which cleans most of them up.
Does it work with VTT files?
Yes. WebVTT files work the same way; the WEBVTT header, notes and styles are skipped.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is read and converted in your browser. Nothing is sent to QuickVeed.
