Free audio volume booster

Make quiet audio louder, without clipping

Drop a recording that's too quiet, raise it by the amount you choose or normalize its loudest peak, and let the soft limiter catch peaks that would distort. Preview it, then save a WAV.

A boost raises everything, including background noise. If the peak is already near 0 dB, only the limiter can make it louder, by squashing the loudest moments.

In short

To make audio louder, drop the file here and either choose a boost in dB (+6 dB doubles the amplitude) or pick Normalize, which raises the whole file until its loudest peak sits at -1 dB. If a boost would push peaks past 0 dB, the soft limiter rounds them off instead of clipping them. Preview the first 10 seconds, then save a 16-bit WAV at the original sample rate. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

3 steps, a few seconds

1

Add your audio

Drop an MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG or FLAC file, or a video to take its sound.

2

Choose the boost

Set a gain from -12 to +24 dB, or normalize the peak to -1 dB.

3

Preview and save

Listen to the first 10 seconds, then save the louder audio as a WAV.

Features

What the Audio Volume Booster does

Up to +24 dB

Raise quiet recordings a lot, or lower loud ones by up to 12 dB.

Normalize

Brings the loudest peak to -1 dB, the most it can rise without limiting.

Soft limiter

Rounds off peaks above -1 dB and holds them under -0.1 dB, so a big boost doesn't crackle.

Preview

Hear the first 10 seconds with your settings before you save.

WAV output

16-bit WAV at the original sample rate, stereo or mono.

Private

Processed in your browser. Your audio is never uploaded.

FAQ

Questions about the Audio Volume Booster

How do I make an audio file louder?
Drop it here, set the boost (try +6 dB) with the soft limiter on, preview it, then press Boost and save and download the WAV.
What does normalize do?
It raises (or lowers) the whole file by the same amount so the loudest peak lands at -1 dB. It doesn't change the balance between quiet and loud parts.
Why does my boosted audio sound distorted?
Digital audio can't go above 0 dB: anything louder is cut flat, which crackles. Keep the soft limiter on, or boost less. The tool warns you when a boost would clip.
Can it save as MP3?
No, it saves a WAV, which keeps full quality and opens in every editor. Convert it to MP3 afterwards if you need a smaller file.
Will it remove background noise?
No. A boost raises everything, including hiss and hum. Record closer to the microphone for the cleanest result.
Is my audio uploaded?
No. The file is decoded and processed in your browser. Nothing is sent to QuickVeed.
