What is Hailuo AI?
Hailuo AI is MiniMax's consumer product for AI video and image generation. You type a prompt or upload a picture, and its models return a short video clip. MiniMax offers the same models to developers through its Open Platform API, and third-party tools, QuickVeed included, run them through an API.
Hailuo has gone through several model generations. Hailuo 02 was followed by Hailuo 2.3 on 28 October 2025, and MiniMax H3 is the model the Hailuo homepage now shows as live. In October 2026 MiniMax's API pricing page groups Hailuo 2.3, 2.3 Fast and 02 under Legacy Models, but they remain listed with prices.

What is new in Hailuo 2.3?
Hailuo 2.3 improved physical actions, stylisation and character micro-expressions, according to MiniMax's announcement. MiniMax lists more fluid body movement that follows commands even with dynamic camera moves, more photo-like lighting and colour, stronger support for anime, illustration, ink-wash and game-CG styles, and more natural facial performances.
MiniMax also said Hailuo 2.3 kept Hailuo 02's pricing, and introduced Hailuo 2.3 Fast as a faster, cheaper option that reduces batch-creation cost by up to 50%. MiniMax doesn't publish a benchmark score for either in that announcement, so judge them on your own prompts.
How much does Hailuo AI cost?
Hailuo's API costs $0.28 for a 6-second 768p Hailuo 2.3 clip and $0.19 on Hailuo 2.3 Fast. These are MiniMax's pay-as-you-go prices, read on 26 October 2026:

MiniMax H3 is priced per second instead: $0.08 a second at 768p and $0.13 at 2K, so a 10-second 768p H3 clip is $0.80. The Hailuo app sells monthly subscriptions with credits; we couldn't read its current plan prices, so check current pricing on hailuoai.video before you subscribe.
How do you use Hailuo AI?
You use Hailuo AI by writing a prompt (and optionally adding a starting image), choosing a model, length and resolution, and generating. The steps are the same in the Hailuo app, the API and tools that run Hailuo:
- Decide whether you start from text or from an image. Hailuo 2.3 Fast needs an image; the API accepts JPG, PNG or WebP under 20 MB, with a short edge over 300 px and an aspect ratio between 2:5 and 5:2.
- Write one shot per prompt: subject, action, setting, light, style. MiniMax's API allows up to 2,000 characters.
- Add camera moves in square brackets (below).
- Pick 6 s or 10 s at 768p, or 6 s at 1080p.
- Generate, review, and change one thing at a time between attempts.

How do Hailuo camera commands work?
Hailuo camera commands are bracketed phrases inside the prompt that tell the model how the camera moves. MiniMax's API reference lists 15 for Hailuo 2.3, 2.3 Fast and 02:

Several commands inside one bracket happen together, for example [Pan left,Pedestal up], and MiniMax recommends no more than three. Commands in sequence happen in order: "A man picks up a book [Pedestal up], then reads [Static shot]." Plain-language camera directions also work, but MiniMax says explicit commands are more accurate. On the Starter plan ($18 for 1,000 credits, 1.8 cents a credit), a 6 s 768p Hailuo 2.3 clip works out at about $1.26 and a 6 s 768p 2.3 Fast clip at about $0.86, more than MiniMax's own API price because you're paying for a no-code tool and several models in one account. Credits are charged when the job starts and refunded if it fails.
What QuickVeed doesn't do with Hailuo: clips come out without sound (in QuickVeed only Veo 3.1, Kling v3, Seedance and Vidu Q3 generate audio), and it doesn't offer MiniMax H3. To add voice, use the AI voice generator or see AI video generators with sound.

Hailuo 2.3 is a good, low-cost choice for short, expressive shots, stylised looks and controlled camera moves. Choose something else when you need:
