The main D-ID alternatives are HeyGen (longer avatar videos and a large avatar library), Synthesia (presenter-led training video at a low price per minute) and QuickVeed (short talking-photo and lip-sync clips priced per second). D-ID itself is cheap to start, with Lite at $5.90 a month for 10 minutes, but it watermarks videos until Pro at $29 a month and limits the trial to personal use.

This guide gives D-ID's current plans first, so you can see what you'd be leaving, then the alternatives with prices from each vendor's pricing page on 26 October 2026. Avatar tools change quickly; more guides are in our AI video, avatars and dubbing guides.
The short answer
D-ID has a 14-day trial (3 minutes, full-screen watermark, personal use), Lite at $5.90/month (10 minutes, D-ID watermark), Pro at $29 (15 minutes, commercial license, voice clone), Advanced at $196 (100 minutes) and Enterprise. Choose HeyGen for longer videos, Synthesia for training at under $1.60 a minute, and QuickVeed for 30-second talking-photo and lip-sync clips.
Key takeaways
- D-ID's commercial-use license starts on Pro ($29 a month, or $16 billed yearly).
- Yearly billing roughly halves D-ID Pro and Advanced: $191 and $1,293 a year.
- HeyGen Creator is $29 a month with videos up to 30 minutes; Synthesia Starter $19 with about 12 extra minutes.
- QuickVeed's avatar clips run up to 30 seconds, from 10 credits per 10 seconds.
- Every tool requires the right to use a face and a voice; only clone with consent.

What does D-ID cost?
D-ID's Studio plans, as listed on its pricing page on 26 October 2026 (monthly and yearly toggles):
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Minutes a month | Watermark | License and extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trial | $0 for 14 days | - | 3 minutes in total | Full-screen | Personal use; 1 personal avatar |
| Lite | $5.90 | $4.70/month ($56 a year) | 10 | D-ID watermark | Everything in Trial (including its personal-use license), photo and 2 video avatars |
| Pro | $29 | $16/month ($191 a year) | 15 | 'AI watermark' | Commercial use, 3 personal avatars, 1 voice clone |
| Advanced | $196 | $108/month ($1,293 a year) | 100 | Custom logo | 5 personal avatars, 3 voice clones |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Unlimited | - | Professional voice cloning, team features |
Minutes are shared across videos, agents, video translation and the API. Paid plans also advertise unlimited videos in the first month under a fair-use policy. D-ID's page doesn't define its 'AI watermark' on Pro, so check a test export if a clean frame matters.
Why look for a D-ID alternative?
- Watermark and license: Lite is cheap but carries the D-ID watermark, and commercial use starts on Pro.
- Minutes: 15 minutes a month on Pro is tight for courses; Advanced jumps to $196.
- Format: D-ID started with talking photos; if you want full-body presenters or long scripted modules, other tools focus on that.
For personal projects that only need short talking photos, D-ID Lite at $4.70 a month billed yearly is hard to beat on price.

HeyGen
HeyGen is the closest all-round alternative. Its free plan gives 3 videos a month, each up to 1 minute, with a watermark. Creator is $29 a month ($24 billed yearly) with 600 credits, 1080p export and videos up to 30 minutes; Pro is $49 with 1,000 credits and 4K export; Business is $149 plus $20 per seat, with videos up to 60 minutes and 5 custom video avatars. Choose it over D-ID when you need longer videos or a personal avatar with your own voice on the first paid plan. Is HeyGen free? covers the free plan in detail.
Synthesia
Synthesia suits presenter-led training. Starter is $19 a month ($14 yearly) and adds about 12 minutes on top of a free 10; Pro is $89 ($59 yearly) for about 60 extra minutes and 5 personal avatars. Video costs 100 credits a minute, which works out at roughly $1 to $1.60 a paid minute. Its free plan can't download videos. See Synthesia pricing for the full breakdown.
QuickVeed
QuickVeed's AI avatars work three ways: Photo to Talking Video animates a still portrait to an audio track (LivePortrait at 10 credits per 10 seconds, SadTalker at 21), Full Avatar makes a presenter from a face plus a script (P-Video Avatar, 63 credits per 10 seconds) or your audio (Omni-Human, 350), and Lip Sync re-times the mouth in an existing video (37 to 375 credits per 10 seconds). You can use 22 stock faces or upload your own photo.
The limit is length: every model makes up to 30 seconds. That rules it out for long modules but fits hooks, product intros and short updates, and the same credits pay for captions and dubbing. No QuickVeed plan watermarks output. QuickVeed plans are $18 a month for 1,000 credits (Starter), $42 for 2,500 (Boost) and $114 for 6,000 (Scale), and a new account gets a 14-day trial with 250 credits, no card needed. That makes a credit worth about 1.7 to 1.9 cents.
How to choose
- Under 30 seconds, many variations: QuickVeed, or D-ID Pro if you want its agents and API too.
- 2 to 30-minute marketing or sales video: HeyGen.
- Courses and onboarding, many minutes a month: Synthesia.
- Interactive agents or an API on a budget: D-ID, where minutes cover agents and API calls too.
Whichever you pick, write the script for the ear and keep the first sentence short; how to make an AI spokesperson video and how to make a photo talk walk through it, and AI avatar vs a real presenter helps decide whether to use an avatar at all.
