Veo 3.1 costs $0.40 per second of video with audio and $0.20 without, at 720p or 1080p, on Google Cloud's pricing page (checked 26 October 2026). An 8-second clip is therefore $3.20 with sound or $1.60 silent; 4K costs $0.60 a second. Veo 3.1 Fast is $0.10 to $0.12 a second with audio, so 8 seconds is $0.80 to $0.96.

Below: every Veo 3.1 price per second and per clip, what changed for the Gemini API in October 2026, how Flow plans charge, and what Veo costs in QuickVeed credits.
The short answer
Google lists Veo 3.1 at $0.40/s with audio and $0.20/s without (720p or 1080p), $0.60/s and $0.40/s at 4K. Veo 3.1 Fast is $0.10/s (720p) or $0.12/s (1080p) with audio, $0.08 or $0.10 without. Veo 3.1 Lite is $0.05 or $0.08 with audio, $0.03 or $0.05 without. An 8 s clip runs from $0.24 (Lite, silent, 720p) to $4.80 (Veo 3.1, 4K, audio). In QuickVeed, 8 s of Veo 3.1 with audio is 800 credits.
Key takeaways
- Veo is priced per second of output, so cost = price per second × clip length (4, 6 or 8 s).
- Audio doubles full Veo 3.1's price: $0.40 against $0.20 a second at 720p/1080p.
- With audio at 1080p, Veo 3.1 Fast costs under a third of full Veo 3.1 ($0.12 against $0.40 a second).
- The Gemini API's Veo 3.1 preview models were shut down on 22 October 2026; Google points users to Gemini Omni Flash or the GA Veo models on its Cloud platform.
- In QuickVeed: Veo 3.1 is 50 credits a second silent or 100 with audio; Veo 3.1 Fast is 25 or 37.5.

How much does Veo 3.1 cost per second?
Veo 3.1 costs $0.40 a second with audio and $0.20 a second without at 720p or 1080p, according to the Veo section of Google Cloud's generative AI pricing page (now under the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform). The page lists the unit as one count; Veo is billed per second of generated video.
| Model | Resolution | Video + audio, per second | Video only, per second |
|---|---|---|---|
| Veo 3.1 | 720p or 1080p | $0.40 | $0.20 |
| Veo 3.1 | 4K | $0.60 | $0.40 |
| Veo 3.1 Fast | 720p | $0.10 | $0.08 |

| Veo 3.1 Lite | 720p | $0.05 | $0.03 |
| Veo 3.1 Lite | 1080p | $0.08 | $0.05 |
| Veo 3 (older) | 720p or 1080p | $0.40 | $0.20 |
| Veo 2 (older) | 720p | — | $0.50 |
Checked on 26 October 2026 against Google Cloud's generative AI pricing page. The same page lists lower rates under one- and three-year savings plans (for example $0.36 and $0.32 a second for Veo 3.1 with audio). Google's Veo 3.1 model page lists 4K output for Veo 3.1 but only 720p and 1080p for Veo 3.1 Fast, so treat Fast's 4K row as a listed price you may not be able to use.
How much does an 8-second Veo 3.1 video cost?
An 8-second Veo 3.1 video costs $3.20 with audio or $1.60 without, at 720p or 1080p. Veo 3.1 makes 4, 6 or 8 second clips, so here is each length (price per second × seconds):
| Model and setting | 4 s | 6 s | 8 s |
|---|---|---|---|
| Veo 3.1, 720p/1080p, with audio | $1.60 | $2.40 | $3.20 |
| Veo 3.1, 720p/1080p, no audio | $0.80 | $1.20 | $1.60 |
| Veo 3.1, 4K, with audio | $2.40 | $3.60 | $4.80 |
| Veo 3.1 Fast, 1080p, with audio | $0.48 | $0.72 | $0.96 |
| Veo 3.1 Fast, 720p, with audio | $0.40 | $0.60 | $0.80 |
| Veo 3.1 Fast, 1080p, no audio | $0.40 | $0.60 | $0.80 |
| Veo 3.1 Lite, 1080p, with audio | $0.32 | $0.48 | $0.64 |
| Veo 3.1 Lite, 720p, no audio | $0.12 | $0.18 | $0.24 |
Google's model page notes that reference-image-to-video on Veo 3.1 only supports 8 seconds, so ingredient-style shots always cost the 8-second price. Failed or blocked attempts and the retries you need until a clip works are the hidden cost: budget two to four generations per keeper. A minute of finished Veo 3.1 footage with audio (eight 8-second clips) is $25.60 before retries.
Is Veo 3 free, and what changed in the Gemini API?
Veo 3 isn't free for developers. Google's Gemini API documentation says the Veo 3.1 preview models (veo-3.1-generate-preview, the Fast and Lite previews) were shut down in the Gemini API on 22 October 2026, and tells users to move to Gemini Omni Flash or to the GA Veo models on Google's Cloud platform. The Gemini API pricing page no longer lists Veo; it lists Gemini Omni Flash video output at an effective price of about $0.10 a second for 720p.
On Google Cloud, the GA models are veo-3.1-generate-001 and veo-3.1-fast-generate-001 (generally available since 17 November 2025), with Veo 3.1 Lite in preview. Google's model page lists Provisioned Throughput and fixed quota as the consumption options for these models, so check with Google which billing option your project can use before you build on the per-second prices.
For consumers, Google AI plans include monthly Google Flow credits for making videos in Flow. Google's plans page lists 200 Flow credits a month on AI Plus, 1,000 on AI Pro, 10,000 on AI Ultra 5x and 25,000 on AI Ultra 20x. Flow shows the credit cost of each generation; check current pricing for the plans in your country.
How much does Veo 3.1 cost in QuickVeed?
In QuickVeed, Veo 3.1 costs 50 credits a second without audio and 100 with audio, and Veo 3.1 Fast 25 credits a second without audio and 37.5 with audio. Both make 4, 6 or 8 second clips at 720p or 1080p in the AI video generator. The price is shown before you generate, credits are charged when the job starts, and they're refunded if it fails.
| Clip in QuickVeed | Credits | Starter ($0.018/credit) | Boost ($0.0168) | Scale ($0.019) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Veo 3.1, 8 s with audio | 800 | $14.40 | $13.44 | $15.20 |
| Veo 3.1, 8 s silent | 400 | $7.20 | $6.72 | $7.60 |
| Veo 3.1, 4 s with audio | 400 | $7.20 | $6.72 | $7.60 |
| Veo 3.1 Fast, 8 s with audio | 300 | $5.40 | $5.04 | $5.70 |
| Veo 3.1 Fast, 8 s silent | 200 | $3.60 | $3.36 | $3.80 |
| Veo 3.1 Fast, 4 s with audio | 150 | $2.70 | $2.52 | $2.85 |
Credit values come from plan prices: Starter is $18 for 1,000 credits (1.8 cents each), Boost $42 for 2,500 (1.68 cents) and Scale $114 for 6,000 (1.9 cents). Credits also pay for QuickVeed's other tools, such as captions and dubbing.
Be clear about the trade-off: per clip, QuickVeed costs more than Google's list price. What you get is no setup, no Google Cloud project or quota, and the same prompt runnable on Veo and cheaper models such as Kling, Seedance, Hailuo or Vidu from one screen. QuickVeed outputs up to 1080p, so it has no 4K Veo, and it doesn't offer Flow's extend tools.
How can you spend less on Veo 3.1?
You spend less on Veo 3.1 by drafting cheap and finishing expensive:
- Draft the shot without audio, or on Veo 3.1 Fast or Lite; Fast with audio at 1080p is under a third of full Veo 3.1.
- Use 4-second clips while you test composition, and move to 8 seconds only for the keeper.
- Switch audio on only when the shot needs synced sound or dialogue; for narration over B-roll, add a voiceover afterwards.
- Write one shot per prompt with camera, light and sound in separate sentences, which cuts retries. How to write AI video prompts has templates.
- Download clips straight away: Google's Gemini API docs say generated videos are stored for only two days.
Is Veo 3.1 worth the price compared with other models?
Veo 3.1 is worth its price when the shot needs realistic motion and synced sound in one pass, such as a person speaking a line. For silent B-roll, product shots and drafts, cheaper models usually do the job. Our comparisons go deeper: Veo 3.1 vs Kling v3, Runway Gen-4.5 vs Veo 3.1, and AI video generators with sound. For the model itself, see what Veo 3 is; for length limits, how long AI videos can be.
Every Veo video also carries SynthID, Google's invisible watermark, per the Gemini API docs, so disclose AI footage where platforms ask you to.
