Murf AI Alternatives: 6 Voice Tools Compared (2026)

Six Murf AI alternatives compared on voices, free option, price and what the entry plan includes, with prices read on each vendor's page on 1 November 2026, and which one fits which kind of voice-over work.

Murf AI Alternatives: 6 Voice Tools Compared (2026)

The main Murf AI alternatives in 2026 are ElevenLabs for the most expressive voices and voice cloning from $6 a month, WellSaid for English corporate narration, Speechify Studio for the most voice hours per dollar on yearly plans, Google Cloud and Azure Speech for developers paying per character, and QuickVeed if the voice over is one part of a video you also need to caption, dub or put a presenter on.

Murf itself is $29 a month for 2 hours of voice ($19 billed yearly); our Murf AI pricing guide has the details. Every price below was read on the vendor's own page on 1 November 2026. More in our video tool pricing and alternatives guides.

Key takeaways

  • Most like-for-like: ElevenLabs Creator ($22 a month, about 2 hours) with professional voice cloning, which Murf keeps for Enterprise.
  • Most hours for the money: Speechify Studio Starter, $100 a year for 24 hours of voice over, against Murf Creator's $228.
  • English-only corporate narration: WellSaid, from $10 a month billed yearly.
  • Developers: Azure neural voices at $15 and Google Chirp 3 HD at $30 per million characters, with free monthly allowances.
  • QuickVeed costs more per minute of voice than these, but the same credits cover captions, dubbing and avatars.

Disclosure: we make QuickVeed, one of the tools on this list. Every other product's details come from its public pages or published reviews, checked in November 2026 and linked at the end. We include each tool's real strengths, and say who it suits better than us.

How we compared them

We picked tools people compare with Murf for its main job, script-to-voice-over for videos, courses and presentations, and only tools whose prices we could read on their own pages on 1 November 2026. To compare them, we use ElevenLabs' own yardstick of about 1,000 characters to a minute of speech.

PlayHT, a common name in older lists, is left out: its website didn't load for us on 1 November 2026, so we couldn't check a current price.

The Murf AI alternatives, one by one

1. ElevenLabs

Best for: Natural, expressive voices, voice cloning and dubbing
Price: Free; Starter $6/month; Creator $22; Pro $99; Scale $299; Business $990; yearly is 10 times monthly. First-month offers showed $1 Starter and $11 Creator.

ElevenLabs sells credits; text to speech uses about 1,000 credits a minute, so Starter's 30,000 credits are about 30 minutes a month and Creator's 121,000 about 2 hours, the same as Murf Creator for $7 less. Instant voice cloning starts on Starter and professional cloning on Creator, both of which Murf keeps for Enterprise.

Its Studio handles long-form narration and its dubbing tool translates videos. See ElevenLabs pricing and ElevenLabs alternatives.

Where it shines: Voice quality and range; cloning on cheap plans; a large API and dubbing product.

Watch out for: Credits are shared across features, so dubbing eats them fast; Murf's pronunciation and Slides add-ons have no exact equivalent.

2. WellSaid

Best for: Consistent English narration for training, e-learning and corporate video
Price: Free; Starter $19/month or $10/month billed yearly ($120); Pro $49 or $33 yearly ($396); Business $160 per user a month billed yearly; Enterprise custom.

WellSaid limits downloads rather than generation: paid plans list unlimited generation, and Starter includes 20 download minutes a month (240 a year on yearly billing), Pro 180 a month (2,160 a year). Starter and Pro include all English voices; other languages are listed on Enterprise. The free plan has 10 minutes of generation and 3 download minutes a month, without commercial rights.

Where it shines: Unlimited takes before you download; a narrow, polished English voice library; Business seats for teams.

Watch out for: English only below Enterprise; its pricing page doesn't mention voice cloning.

3. Speechify Studio

Best for: The most voice-over hours per dollar, billed yearly
Price: Free; Studio Starter $100/year; Studio Creator $300/year. The pricing page shows yearly prices only.

Speechify Studio counts credits by the second: voice over uses 1 credit a second, dubbing 3 and avatars 30. Starter's 86,400 credits are 24 hours of voice over a year, the same as Murf Creator yearly for $100 instead of $228; Creator's 345,600 are 96 hours, like Murf Business yearly, for $300 instead of $792. Re-exporting unchanged speech is free, and volume tweaks don't use credits.

The free plan has 600 credits (10 minutes) and no commercial use, and its FAQ says downloading to MP3 needs a paid plan.

Where it shines: Low price per hour; voice over, dubbing and a voice changer in one studio; stock media on paid plans.

Watch out for: Billed yearly only; pitch, speed or emotion changes regenerate and use credits; voice cloning isn't on the Studio pricing page.

4. Google Cloud Text-to-Speech

Best for: Developers who want to generate speech from their own app or script
Price: Chirp 3 HD $30 per million characters after 1 million free a month; Neural2 $16 (1 million free); Standard and WaveNet $4 (4 million free); Studio voices $160; instant custom voice $60.

Google's TTS is an API with no studio, billed per character including spaces and SSML tags. At about 1,000 characters a minute, Chirp 3 HD costs 3 cents a minute after the free million, which is about 16 hours of speech. Gemini TTS models are priced separately per token.

Where it shines: Very low cost per minute; a large free monthly allowance; many languages.

Watch out for: You need code or a third-party app to use it, and there's no editor, voice library browser or timeline.

5. Azure AI Speech

Best for: Developers on Microsoft Azure, or who need personal or custom voices
Price: Neural voices $15 per million characters; Neural HD $22; personal voice $24 (East US, pay as you go). Free tier: 0.5 million characters a month.

Microsoft's pricing page renders its rates in the browser, so the prices here come from Microsoft's own retail price list for Azure Speech in East US. At about 1,000 characters a minute, neural voices are 1.5 cents a minute. Professional custom voice is a limited-access feature you apply for, priced separately with training and hosting fees.

Where it shines: The cheapest neural voices here; a free monthly tier; enterprise compliance.

Watch out for: API only; prices vary by region; custom voice needs approval.

6. QuickVeed

Best for: Voice overs for videos you'll also caption, translate, dub or put a presenter on
Price: $18/month (1,000 credits), $42 (2,500) or $114 (6,000); yearly is 10× monthly; 14-day trial with 250 credits, no card.

QuickVeed is our product. Its AI voice generator runs 9 text-to-speech models, from Chatterbox at 7 credits per 1,000 characters to ElevenLabs v3 at 25, with up to 10,000 characters a job, 8 languages on the multilingual models and voice cloning from a short sample on MiniMax Speech, Chatterbox, XTTS v2 and OpenVoice. That's about 12 to 48 cents a minute, more than Murf's yearly plans or the cloud APIs.

The reason to pick it is the rest of the video: auto subtitles in 32 languages, AI dubbing of videos up to 10 minutes and presenter clips with AI avatars, all on one balance.

Where it shines: One balance for voice, captions, dubbing and avatars; ElevenLabs and MiniMax voices without separate subscriptions; prices shown before each job.

Watch out for: No studio timeline, pronunciation library or Slides add-on like Murf's; more expensive per minute for long narration; a new product with no independent reviews yet.

How to choose

  • You want Murf's workflow with better cloning: ElevenLabs Creator.
  • You narrate hours of training content in English: WellSaid, or Speechify Studio if price matters most.
  • You have a developer and lots of text: Azure or Google Cloud, at 1.5 to 3 cents a minute.
  • The voice is part of a video job: QuickVeed, so captions and dubs come from the same credits.
  • Test first: generate the same 200-word paragraph on two free plans and listen on your phone speaker before paying.
